Patreon Launched!

 Hello everyone! This is a post to let you know that I've opened up a Patreon page to support my original comics! I've been uploading to it pretty regularly, and it's become a place for me to share comic pages and to help build more of an audience for my work.

I haven't forgotten about this blog and do still intend to post work on here, I've just been pretty busy with a great many projects, that I will post about soon!

I've also started a new comic titled Honor Bound! Honor Bound is a fantasy romance story centered around a squire who is trying to return to their love following a failed war campaign. I've already posted a bunch of process work on my Patreon, but I'll share more about the story and my other projects soon!

Spencer & Locke 2 is Nominated for a Ringo Award!

 Hey y'all, I hope you're doing well in the quarantine/world being on fire. The state of things has left a lot of people feeling depressed and this summer has been super hard to concentrate on making the comics. There have been a few bright spots, but it's hard to celebrate anything knowing that people are suffering out there. But this post isn't about my depression, it's about spreading some hopefully good vibes? Seriously though, stay safe and keep spreading good, the world needs it!

But yeah, I got the email about this years Ringo Award Nominations, and I must have been exhausted because I didn't even notice Spencer and Locke on it, but we were nominated for Best Single Issue for Volume 2 Issue 1!

I'll include some of my inks for that issue, which was a very different experience than drawing the first issue of volume 1. I decided to try using G-pens and other Japanese art tools because I wanted this issue to have a more scratchy gritty feel since we're essentially jumping into a war story. It was a lot of fun to play with these tools again, having left them aside for brushes at SCAD, but now I use a hybrid of both when I'm making comics. My tools on these are: Deleter G-pens, Zebra brush pens, Raphael watercolor brushes, Yasutomo Sumi Ink, and Pentel Hybrid Technica pens on Stillman & Birn Zeta paper.

D is for Delilah - A to Z Challenge

D is for Delilah! She is off the chain, mainly because she's strong enough to break it and beat people up.

She's an old character from my first series of graphic novels, the Wolves of Sariel. The Wolves were a sect of religious vampires who tried to only hunt people that were criminals or up to shenanigans. They saw themselves as the wolves who protect the sheep, rather than hunting them like others would. Delilah was a vampire who often clashed with her elders because she didn't believe in living a life where you monkishly give up everything for the sake of some religious clarity. Delilah was a child during the Japanese Internment in WW2, so she doesn't want to feel like a prisoner or a nun. She wants to live and eat and have fun and bring the pain to people who cross her. Unfortunately she was in a part of the book I didn't get to draw, but should I ever revamp Wolves, she would definitely be in it.

A is for Arya - A to Z challenge

Arya is one of the main characters of my fantasy comic, Rare Drops. Arya goes on adventures to find rare treasures and generally just enjoy life! Check out the first chapter here, The Ice Cave. Or you can purchase the comic here in my Store.

I'm going to try to make a new post everyday with a drawing of another character of mine whose name begins with the next letter of the alphabet. Tomorrow is B! When it's complete, I may compile them all into a sketchbook to sell here and at cons.

Curse of the Eel Ch3 Process

Here are the 3 art stages for the cover of Curse of the Eel chapter 3! The first book is chapter 1 and 2 together, so there hasn’t been a chapter 2 cover yet. When I reprint it, I’m going to make them only a chapter per book, it’s cheaper to print that way oddly enough.

Connie is a frustrated goth girl who is being bullied. One day she is chased into an abandoned shack and accidentally summons an eldritch-like eel creature into our world. Connie is horrified however to find that the Eel is a soft spoken meddler who loves to eat and watch Oprah. With the Eel as her only friend, Connie tries to navigate high school life with as few troubles as possible. Good luck with that.
