The Feat of Nobody, Inks

Update: I added the last two pages, I figure it should be fine since the lettered and colored files are what people would see if they got the anthology. So here are the completed inks.

The Feat of Nobody is completely inked, although I don't think I have permission to post up the lettered files, so unfortunately this will have to do until I know 100% what's okay. I will have this available as a printed book at the upcoming mini comics convention: Fluke.

For these pages I used my Raphael brush and my china marker for a lot of the rendering. Going forward I think I'm gonna go easier on the china marker. I just really wanted to push it on this comic, mainly spurred on by the rendering in Stuart Immonen's art in Superman: Secret Identity, which is probably one of my favorite comics ever. I thought approaching this comic with that tool would help bring some texture and grit to this western.

I don't think I'll ever be 100% satisfied with the work I do, but I feel like I've leveled up in some ways but I'm really lacking in inking in others. I can't wait to get to the next project though. With school starting tomorrow I hope to update more frequently with both comic pages and sketches. Thanks for reading!

The Feat of Nobody, Pencils complete

Pencils for the Feat of Nobody are complete. I made quite a few changes after getting some great feedback from Lauren Sankovitch, James Lucas Jones, Skottie Young and C.B. Cebulski. They gave really helpful portfolio reviews so I revised as much of the art as I could to fit their suggestions. I think that overall it's a much stronger work than it was before. I'm already 4 pages in on the inks so that post will be up in a few days. I think I really leveled up as far as my figure drawing and staging, although as I was inking a page I'm already aware of areas I can improve on.

There's always room to improve so I'll be striving for improvement with every panel. I hope you enjoyed these pencils and I hope you find my next comic far superior to this one!

The Feat of Nobody Pencils 1, 3-8

These are 7 pages of my 10 page challenge, The Feat of Nobody. Essentially this is the end of the Odyssey but a western, with guns and horses and stuff. I've been working on these steadily but I wanted to post up these versions after having gotten excellent feedback from Skottie Young and C.B. Cebulski. I hope I've addressed the issues they brought up and fixed the inconsistencies in the art.

These are some of the most recent pages I've worked on, and among the best I've ever penciled. I simplified my system and now I've cut my page time down while getting the same level of rhythm and action as I get in my sketchbook people drawings. I'm proud with how these have turned out.

I have 3 more pages to pencil, I'll try to get them done for this weekend where I'll receive portfolio reviews from James Lucas Jones and Lauren Sankovitch. I'll do my best!
