Midday Deadline

I set a noon deadline of 2 pages, either pencilled or inked. I did one of each. Now it's lunch time!

I miss you I miss you

A X-mas gift for my parents back in El Paso. The words got lost in the scan but they should read "I miss you I miss you" and my name is painted right below the branch on the right :P

Hybrida Issue 2 Pencils

Pages I finished last night. I haven't been pencilling lately so this was a nice break

Uncanny X-Force Drawings

Two Uncanny X-Force drawings I did last night. I love this book, I stumbled upon it by sheer chance during a time when I was really down. The amazing artwork is what grabbed me at first but the story is what really surprised me. If there was a superhero book that is unlike any other superhero book, it would be this one. Check it out!

More Hybrida Inks

I really love brush inking...I'm probably over doing it, but I just have so much fun doing this, its hard to stop XO

Hybrida Primus Brush Inked

These are my first pages inking with a brush, and I definitely think they have more life to them than the pages I inked with a nib. I'll post more up later. I did the pencils for these as well.

Sketch of the Day 11/21/11

Charity Walker, a new character for a story I hatched this evening. Hope you like it! No color this time, but I wanted to test out this new brush I just bought.

First Quarter at SCAD Complete

Today was my last day for the fall quarter of classes. I think I'll do well, probably with an A and 2 B's, even though I could have had 3 A's...That's my fault though...

Anyhow, since I have a long break coming up, I'm going to try and post up art at least once a day to try and keep my chops up. I also have some things I'd like to work on over the break, like page composition, brush inking and maybe even a little color.

So bear with me and I hope you like what I post up in the coming days!

Surprise Comic

Here are some pages for another class. Three page comics are interesting exercises. Here I was more trying to incorporate lessons I've learned in this class like inking techniques, composition, spotting blacks and more. I think this one was a bit more of a challenge to do than the last post. I'm using tones again here for shading and such. The cintiq's at school make this SUPER easy to do. I want one =D

I hope you enjoy these!

Amamar Comic Pages

Here's some gouache painted pages for a class I'm taking at SCAD. It's a 3 page comic featuring aliens from my Hybrida Primus universe, the Amamars. They're a religious race of aliens that live on planets that are mostly water. They worship the water and they are harshly protective of it. They're also not too interested in anything from the land.

I hope you like these!

Hybrida Project Pencils

Here are some pages for a 3 page project for class. I decided to keep it in the Hybrida universe just to practice more science fiction stuff and drawing the aliens. Hope you like them!

What I've been doing since I got to Atlanta

Drawing of course. I'm not working and school begins in mid September so I've been working on pages and trying to improve my artwork before it's too late!

Here are some samples. I'll post up more later, but I'd like to keep some to post later on.

Just pencils for now. I'm going to try and ink these for next week. I'll post up my results, digital as well as traditional.

Atlanta

I am in Atlanta, Georgia now. Well, one of the cities surrounding it. I'm just waiting for school to start and I'm trying to draw to pass the time. Here are some tests that I've been playing with.

The top image is just a quick experiment. I'm no colorist and especially not a digital one, so this was just me playing around with some advice I was given by Dean White, a great pro colorist.

Goose Volume 2 Art

Here is a design for Good Night Mrs. Goose's second volume. I got to work on this one recently for a publisher, so here it is.

For the candies and the face in the background of the front cover, I used construction paper. The rest of this is watercolor.

Here's a drawing I did the other of Valerie in a more simple Art Nouveau poster style. All of this was hand done, I was practicing with using 2B lead with my lead holder and I think I'll stick with it. I'm scoring the paper too much with my F lead.
