Goose Volume 2 Art

Here is a design for Good Night Mrs. Goose's second volume. I got to work on this one recently for a publisher, so here it is.

For the candies and the face in the background of the front cover, I used construction paper. The rest of this is watercolor.

Here's a drawing I did the other of Valerie in a more simple Art Nouveau poster style. All of this was hand done, I was practicing with using 2B lead with my lead holder and I think I'll stick with it. I'm scoring the paper too much with my F lead.

Character Designs

Here are some designs I drew up yesterday and colored with Copics. I've been beginning to plan out a sci fi story lately that's different from my last one, Uncanny Valley. The purple girl, Danica would be the protagonist and the redhead, Bellona, would be the antagonist. I'll add any more sketches as I do them!

Good Night Mrs. Goose Paintings

Here are two watercolor paintings of my characters Lady Grimm and Valerie Clark from my story Good Night Mrs. Goose.I took a lot of inspiration for the design scheme of the book from Alphonse Mucha, who is practically THE Art Nouveau artist. I'm not even a tenth as good as he is, but it's fun trying to incorporate those design ideas into illustrations. I need to work harder at it.

Marker Spread

Here's a spread I did for one of my original comics, Good Night Mrs. Goose. I'm really proud of this and I think the markers came out well on it.

Pencil Portfolio Image #1

I'm putting together a portfolio of strong pencils to see if I can get a gig drawing comics when I move to Atlanta. I honestly couldn't think of a story of my own that I wanted to do for this so I went with this idea for a Batman story I came up with a while ago.

I'll admit, when I draw my own comics I don't tend to be this detailed. Mostly because since I ink my own pages I know what I'm going to do in the inking stage that won't require me to render things 100% as I imagine them in pencil. This is probably one of the first pages I've pencilled thinking that I should include all I want in there for the inker. It's kinda fun!

My inspirations as far pencils go are Jerome OpeƱa, Sal Abbinanti, and Alex Ross.
