Honor Bound ch 1 Released!

Hey everyone, long time no post! I've been working a bunch on new comics, and my newest one is now out in the world: Honor Bound! It's a dark fantasy romance story, about a gender neutral squire, Zheng, and the journey they must undertake to return to the love of their life, Rayner, after suffering a terrible loss while hunting a barbarian queen. This book has been my passion for the last year or so and I'm happy to have done as much of it as I have.

This book debuted at Momocon 2025, and I sold out of all the copies I had printed, which is a first for me in all of the years of creating comics and sharing them at conventions. I was incredibly moved, this book was instrumental in breaking me out of a very low point a year and a half ago so to see it do well was more than I could imagine.

You can follow the progress of Honor Bound, or read more about the worldbuilding, on my Patreon! Check out the link in my header to see the tiers I have available!

You can get a copy of this first book in my store right now! https://jorgesantiagojr.bigcartel.com/

Or, you can buy the pdf on my Patreon store! https://www.patreon.com/jorgesantiagojr/shop/honor-bound-chapter-1-pdf-1641698?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=productshare_creator&utm_content=join_link

Curse of the Eel volume 2 cover!

Hello everyone! A lack of updates to this site means I've mainly been working on freelance works that I can't really share, but it's good to be busy! I've also been doing my best to keep up with all my original comics, and Curse of the Eel volume 2 is almost ready to go! Here is my process for this cover and some of my thoughts on it.

Curse of the Eel is my take on a modern day world where eldritch creatures and magic wind up in the hands of some odd peoples. Connie is a goth girl who is bullied at high school, and the only person she's able to trust/talk with, is the weird Cthulhu-ish Eel monster that she accidentally summoned. Unfortunately for Connie, Eel isn't the only weird eldritch abomination wandering the halls of her school and the woods of the surrounding area.

This comic was my thesis for my MFA and has been running for 5 years at this point, and I'm working on the 12th chapter as we speak! It's actually doing well on sites like Tapastic and Smackjeeves.

For this cover, I wanted to mirror the first volume cover but also showing that the earth and the Eel's realm are being smashed together, and the thin veneer keeping the worlds separate are cracking, hence the fun glass cracks!

As always, inked with my Raphael 8404 #3 brush with Yasutomo sumi ink on Stillman & Birn Beta Paper.

Requiem Sonata Ch4 Preview

I finished another chapter of Requiem Sonata, and it took me forever to do, but this book is so near my heart that I have to do it. So I finally exhausted all of the pages of the 9x12 Stillman and Birn Alpha sketchbook that I was drawing it in, and all future pages will be drawn on 11x14 or 15 inch Alpha paper. The reason is, my hand and wrist pains have gotten pretty bad in the last couple of months, so to allow my wrist more room to work and ease its burden, I'm switching to a larger paper for these detailed pages. I'm happy to work at this size, and I'm actually working a lot faster because of it, so know your tools, dear readers aspiring to do comics! Knowing your tools is as important as knowing how to draw, because your tools will impact your ability, believe it or not.

So here are some pages from chapter 4, where Requiem gets more dark before taking steps toward the end. I hope my readers enjoy it and find the story fun!

Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Spencer and Locke, which is my first comic to ever be published widely. I didn't write it, I did the art, so if you want to see me draw a detective with an imaginary panther for a partner, give it a look! Here's a link to some preview pages.

Tools: Deleter G-pen and Saji Pen for most of the main lines, and Pentel Color brush for fills
Paper: Stillman and Birn Alpha paper
